Margaret BonnerMargaret Balukjian Bonner, 86, Ives St., Watertown passed away Thursday afternoon, December 17, 2015, at Samaritan Medical Center.

Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Monday, December 21, from 3 - 6PM. The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 22, at 11AM at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Richard Larrabee, pastor, presiding and burial will be at 2PM in Glenwood Cemetery.

Margaret was born in Massena on September 14, 1929. Her parents, Karaken and Serpouhi (Davoudian) Balukjian, both emigrated to the US from Armenia. Margaret was very proud of her Armenian heritage. She graduated from Massena High School in 1948 and from Central City Business Institute, Syracuse. While in Syracuse, she worked at Easy Washer. She returned to Massena to become co-owner of the family business, American Dry Cleaners.

On August 27, 1966 she married James M. Bonner, Jr. at St. Mary's Church, Massena with Fr. Mark Liebler officiating. In 1977 the family moved to Watertown. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and its American Christian Discussion Group and also an avid volunteer at the church. Margaret was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 516 in Massena. She was a member of Professional Business Women, Laurel Twig Hospital Auxiliary, Urban Mission, Watertown Golf Club, Seaway Bowl, and YMCA. She enjoyed volunteering at Jefferson Elementary School, golfing, and bowling.

Besides her husband, James, she is survived by her two sons, Mark J. and wife, Vina A., Watertown and William M., Carlsbad, CA; three grandchildren, Maccie, Yasmine, and Cristian; brother, Sarkis Balukjian and wife, Alice, Massena; sister-in-law, Naomi Balukjian, Potsdam; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her brother, Albert Balukjian, died before her.

Margaret was very outgoing and was known for her sense of humor. Her memories will always be cherished and she will always be loved.

I have fond memories of Margaret during the hockey years. We spent a lot of good times together. Margaret was always smiling and good humored. I am sorry not to seen her in later years.
