Catherine L. "Kitti" Emm, 72, Brooks Dr., Clayton passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Hospice of Jefferson County, Watertown.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 4, at 11AM at St. Mary's Church, Clayton with Rev. Arthur J. LaBaff, pastor, presiding and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. A reception will be in the parish center at the church following the burial. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.
Kitti was born in Alexandria Bay on April 2, 1943, daughter of Thomas M. and Veronica Gates Bogenschutz, Sr. The family moved to Weedsport, living there for ten years, and she graduated from Weedsport Junior-Senior High School. She then attended St. John Fisher College. A marriage to Ronald M. Emm ended in divorce.
She worked in the assembly line for General Electric, Syracuse and as a waitress for several restaurants in the Syracuse area. She was also an assistant teacher in Special Education for both Liverpool High School and Elmcrest Elementary School. Kitti was a secretary for Electrolux, N. Syracuse and then moved to Clayton. For ten years she did the books for Reff Development, Inc., Clayton. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, upholstery, and making drapery.
She is survived by her mother, Veronica A. Bogenschutz, Clayton; daughter, Jennifer L. Bailey, Clayton; three grandchildren, Robert L. Bailey and wife, Rebecca, Brittany M. Best, and Michael L. Bailey; great grandson, Carter J. Best; two brothers, George T. Bogenschutz and wife, Claire, Nunda, SD and Thomas M. Bogenschutz Jr. and wife, Bonnie, Clayton; three sisters, Judy A. George, Suzanne A. Zimmer, and Laura E. Reff and husband, Mark, all of Clayton; sister-in-law, Gail Bogenschutz, Depauville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kitti is predeceased by her father, Thomas, December 25, 2012; daughter, Heidi A. Emm, July 3, 1974; two brothers, Timothy J. Bogenschutz, October 8, 2000 and Theodore F. Bogenschutz, February 1, 2014; two nieces, Molly Foti and Lorie Sue Carlisle; and two nephews, Michael Bogenschutz and James George.
