Brenda L. Colburn

Brenda L. Colburn, 77, Winter Haven, FL and formerly of Tupper Lake, NY and Clayton, NY died Thursday, October 1, 2015.
    Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton on Friday, October 9, from 4 - 7PM. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Saturday, October 10, at 9:15AM followed by the funeral mass celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10AM with Rev. Arthur J. LaBaff, pastor, presiding. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Tupper Lake at 2PM.
    Brenda was born in Tupper Lake on August 20, 1938, daughter of Roy F. and Lillian "Nunu" DuMoulin Colburn. She was a 1958 graduate of Tupper Lake High School and received her A. S. in Food Service Management and Dietetics from Canton ATC in 1960.
    She was a chef, baker and caterer, working with her father, at Roy's Restaurant, Tupper Lake. She also had worked for Syracuse University as an assistant manager of food service for the dorms, Memorial Hospital, currently Upstate Medical Center, as a floor dietitian and cafeteria manager, for Sunmount as an employee and volunteer, and as an instructor at Paul Smith's (NY) College. In 1993 she moved to Clayton.
    Brenda was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of its Legion of Mary. She volunteered with the ministry at River Hospital, Alexandria Bay, NY and was a member of the Third Order of Carmelite. She enjoyed cooking, baking, decoupage, taking art classes and photographs, and was an avid reader.
    She is survived by her sister and her husband, Linda B. and Douglas C. Eberhart, Haines City, FL, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    Donations in her name may be made to the Clayton Volunteer Fire Dept., Graves St. or Paynter Senior Center, 914 Strawberry Lane, both in Clayton, NY 13624. Online condolences to her family may be made at www.cummingsfuneral.com.

Linda and Doug, Just read today of Brenda . So very sorry and sad. A super kind girl all of her days. We know you will miss her all the rest of your days. We had much fun and many laughs at her standing Thurs. , 10:30 hair appt. And she always brought some goodies from the rest. for everyone including a meat pie for Es and me.. YUUMM Think of the two of you often. Our thoughts are with you and hope to make the internment Sat. at 2:00 pm. Bruce

So Sorry to hear of Brenda's passing. Brenda and Linda used to come down to Butch and Babe Colburn's ( their grandparents) in Morristown during the summer and I would come across the street from my grandparents (the Cree's) and we would play and make hollyhock dolls.
