James Patrick Hayden

James Patrick Hayden, 86, formerly of Albany passed away Tuesday evening, April 14, 2015, at Samaritan Keep Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 17, at noon at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven Murray, pastor, presiding followed by burial in Glenwood Cemetery. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are entrusted to Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Jim was born in Watertown on October 31, 1928, the son of James W. and Anna Clifford Hayden. He attended Holy Family Church, graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy, and received his BA from Niagara University.

He was an account examiner for NYS Dept. of Labor in Albany. While in the Albany area, he spent many years with a singing group entertaining the elderly shut-ins and at nursing homes. Five years ago he returned to Watertown to spend time with his sister and her family, never missing a family event over the years.

He is survived by his sister and her husband, Mary Jean and Keith Robbins, Watertown, four nieces, two nephews and many close friends in Albany.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations in his name to the Alzheimer's Assoc. of CNY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204. Online condolences to Jim's family may be made at www.cummingsfuneral.com

Uncle Pat, may you rest in peace now. I picture you singing with the heavenly choir! Thanks for being a loving Uncle, I'll always cherish our "Christmas" phone calls. I KNOW you are in a better place!

We were grateful to have the opportunity to get to know our uncle as we know him now.
The five years he suffered with Alzheimer's were the worst years for him, but being with his sister and family were very fullfiling for him and the family. Now he can sing and dance once again! I will always remember our dance at the weddings.
