Gary G. Mellon

Gary G. Mellon, 73, LaFargeville and formerly of Depauville, passed away March 31, 2015 at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton on Monday, April 6, from 4:30 - 6:30PM followed by a prayer service at 7PM with Rev Arthur J. LaBaff, pastor of St. Mary's Church, presiding. Burial will be in the summer in Depauville Cemetery.

Gary was born in Clayton on April 6, 1941, son of George A. and Eleanor Joles Mellon and he attended schools in Clayton and Depauville.

For 33 1/2 years he worked for the Town of Clayton Highway Dept. and retired October 12, 1996. He was a former member of the Depauville Volunteer Fire Dept. With his life-long friend, Glenford Rarick, he enjoyed working on and restoring cars. In their younger days they built and raced stock cars.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Jo Mellon, Carthage, grandson, Anthony Jackson, Carthage, brother, Wayne H. Mellon, Sr. and wife, Shirley, Syracuse, sister, Sharon A Malecki and husband, Edward, Greenfield, WI, , several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his ex-wife and good friend, Diana Peterson. He was predeceased by his companion, Linda M. Bishop.
