In her earlier years, she enjoyed boating and skiing and was an avid walker and swimmer. Most recently, she loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and spend time with her grandchildren. Sallie was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a member of its Legion of Mary.

She is survived by her daughter, Sara Webster Hughes and her husband, David, Frederiksted, Virgin Islands; three grandchildren, Jessica, Jordan, and Devin Hughes; brother, Archie Laverty and his wife, Roseanne, Watertown; and two nieces and one nephew.
