Paul R. Calhoun, Sr.

Paul R. Calhoun, Sr., 70, of N.Y.S. Route 12-E, Clayton, died on Saturday August 16, 2014 at his home under the care of his family and Hospice.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday August 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, James Street, Clayton.  Arrangements are with the Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.

Paul was born on September 11, 1943 on Grindstone Island, Clayton, the son of Lewis J. and Helen Cook Calhoun.  He attended Grindstone Island and Clayton Central Schools, and married Josie L, Garnsey in Watertown, New York.

Paul was a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers local-545 working throughout the North Country for various contractors for 50 years.  His greatest enjoyment was watching his son Paul, Jr. race and play high school hockey.

Paul is survived by his wife Josie, his son,  Paul R. Calhoun, Jr. and his wife Patty A., his daughter, Judy L, Agar, and  his grandson, Eric J. Agar, all of Clayton.  His surviving siblings include his 2 brothers, Elwood Calhoun and his companion, Kay Garnsey of Cape Vincent, and  Ronald Calhoun and his wife, Norma of Clayton; his 3 sisters, Doreen Meeks, Clayton Center, Gloria Thibault, Brownville and Carol Hackett and her husband Wilson of Dexter, and numerous neices, nephews and cousins   He is also survived by his faithful companion - Gunner. He is predeceased by 2 brothers, Keith and Ray Calhoun and a sister Selma Kirkland.
