Virginia Hibbert Weldon

It is with great sadness that the family of Virginia Hibbert Weldon announces her passing. Mrs. Weldon passed away peacefully on May 25th at The Summit Village surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old and predeceased by her husband, Attorney Robert M. Weldon, Sr. on December 11, 1998. They have now joined together in the loving arms of our Lord.

She was known as Ginny and was born in Watertown, NY on September 26th, 1929 Virginia Mae Hibbert, the daughter of Albert J. and F. Opal Hibbert. She graduated in 1948 from Watertown High School in Watertown, NY and in 1950 from Lasell College in Newton, MA.

Virginia had a passion for the St. Lawrence River. She grew up spending her summers on the River at Point Vivian with her four brothers and two sisters. After being courted on a classic wooden Chris Craft by her future husband, Robert, they married and she enjoyed many summers at the Thousand Island Club.

Virginia was a homemaker in Watertown, NY where they raised their eight children. She was an avid bridge player, gardener, and self-taught artist. In her free time, Virginia served on the Jefferson County Republican Women's Auxiliary and the Mercy Hospital Twig, as well as numerous other social and charity groups. She was also extremely devoted to her Catholic Faith and her parish, St. Patrick's Church. During Lent, Virginia loved to attend weekly morning mass at the Precious Blood Monastery and was always appreciative for all the good works of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Ginny is survived by her sister, Marilyn Hill, Sleepy Hollow, NY; a large, loving family which includes her children, Lynn Ann (Paul) Trimper, Watertown, NY, Nathan James (Lynn) Weldon, Leroy, NY, Nancy Elizabeth Weldon, Watertown, NY, Jeffry John (Carolyn) Weldon, Watertown, NY, Robert Michael (Elizabeth) Weldon, Jr., Watertown, NY, Rebecca Mary (Jim) Rougeux, Manlius, NY, Thomas Andrew (Kerri) Weldon, Wellesley Island, NY, Christopher Bruce (Kelly) Weldon, Wilton, CT, and by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
