James J. "Jim" Guyett, 78, of Montrois Lane, Clayton passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014.Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton on Sunday, March 16, from 1 - 3PM. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 4PM with Rev. Charles A. Costantino, River Community Church, officiating. Mr. Guyett was born in Watertown on December 24, 1935, the son of Raymond "Joe" and Eldora M. Mosher Guyett. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1954.On January 7, 1955 he entered the US Army and was honorably discharged on September 16, 1955 at a Private. On September 8, 1956 he married Patricia A. Badour at the Clayton United Methodist Church with Rev. Little officiating. He was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 545 throughout the north country, retiring April 1, 1991. Jim was a current member of American Legion Post 821 and a former Mason and Clayton Lions Club member. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, where he was a member of the Geritol and Wednesday Night Leagues. The couple had wintered in Lake Placid, FL for ten years. Besides his wife, Patricia, Jim is survived by his three children and their spouses, Joanne M. and Leonard Horst, Gananoque, Ontario, Joe A. and Vickie Guyett, Clayton, and Mark J. and Louise Guyett, Troy, NC, and one daughter, Arlene M. Sherman, died on March 17, 1993. He is also survived by son-in-law and his wife, Allen and Marcia Sherman, Clayton; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sister, Constance and Dick Demott, Punta Gorda, FL; half brother, Jerry and Vicki Froome, Theresa; half sister, Cindy and Skip Brewington, Orlando, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
