Jean E. Remsen, 95, formerly of Akron, died Friday morning, November 8, 2013, at her daughter's home, Susan (Richard) Truglio, in Watertown. The funeral will be Dec. 7 at 11AM at 1st United Methodist Church, Akron and there will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Corfu. Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.
Mrs. Remsen was born in Pembroke on September 21, 1918, daughter of Dennis and Floy Sheaf Bowen. She married William J. Remsen and he died January 1990 after 52 years of marriage.
She had been a member of the 1st United Methodist Church, Akron and was an avid volunteer for the church until she moved to Watertown seven years ago. She was an avid reader, loved history, and was an excellent sewer.
Besides her daughter and her husband, Susan M. and Richard Truglio, she is survived by her son and his wife, Richard W. and Lucy Remsen, Akron, twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and one nephew. Her daughter, Nancy J. Hoffman, died in 2012, and her sister, Evelyn Bufton, died in 2008.
