Sally A CascanetteSally A. Cascanette, 90, passed away at her home on Pillar Point Saturday afternoon, January 20, 2024.

She was born in Dexter on December 9, 1933, daughter of Perry and Marion (Warwick) Washburn and graduated from Watertown High School. On July 12, 1953, she married John R. In 2004 they moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, and returned to the Watertown area in 2016.

Sally worked for Agricultural Insurance Company, Watertown, before beginning her career with Frink Snowplow, Clayton. She worked in the office and retired as executive secretary to the president of the company. She was of the Catholic faith. Sally enjoyed golfing in Myrtle Beach and at the Rustic Golf Course, cooking, gardening, playing the card game Skip-Bo, and listening to music, especially the Eagles and the Bee Gees. She also enjoyed being a "Pillar Point Lake Girl". But her most important enjoyment in her life was her family and spending time with them.

Sally is survived by her daughter and her husband, Jodi L. and Thomas D. Mulligan, Dexter; her son and his wife, John M. and Mary Cascanette, Richmond, VA; five grandchildren, Thomas J., Michael A. and fiancée Chloe Charles, and Robert K. Mulligan, and Tamara and Natasha Cascanette; three step-grandchildren, Jonathan and Maggie Pascoe and Tiffany Hass; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents and husband, John, Sally was predeceased by her sister Nancy Schultz.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, January 26, from 10 - 11 am at St. Patrick's Church, followed by the funeral mass celebrated at 11 am. Burial in Dexter Cemetery will be in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown, and online condolences to her family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sally's name may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601.

I was my Auntie's favorite. I am so fortunate for the title and the love, memories and shananagins I had with her. She had my back and taught me to be obsessed with skip bo.
Her life made mine better. I had very special times with her, that I hope I pass on to my nieces, nephews and all the people I love and encounter. That is what she taught me!
